Sales Tip of the Week from Mike Leeds – Pro Sales Coaching
How am I driving?
Recently, I was cutoff in traffic on a busy freeway. I jumped on my brakes and sounded my horn to avoid impact. The response from the other driver was a very unflattering non-verbal gesture. As his truck shot past me, I saw a sticker on the back that asked "How am I driving?” Also on the sticker were his truck number and his company phone number (which I called and will discuss in a future blog).
We all have probably seen these stickers for years, and viewed them as the company's attempt to share with the public their commitment to safety. Please also consider that your business vehicle is a rolling billboard for your company - and can be a sales tool. Whether you just have a simple bumper sticker / license plate frame, your company info prominently displayed on your doors, or an entire vehicle wrap - here is a checklist to keep in mind for your business vehicle:
• Has the driver been trained and tested for driving skills?
• Would the driver's actions reflect your company's image?
• How does the driver look?
• How is the driver dressed?
• Is the vehicle clean?
• What is the operating condition of the vehicle?
• Are there any objectionable bumper/window stickers?
Keep in mind the old saying "Perception is Reality" - what the public sees on your company vehicle is a direct reflection of your company. So make that perception a great one!
