Sales Tip of the Week from Mike Leeds – Pro Sales Coaching
Celebrate Success
Many sales people celebrate when they close a sale. This works if you have daily or weekly sales. What if you only have a handful of sales throughout the course of a year? That's a long time between celebrations. When I worked for AT&T selling large PBXs (telephone systems), there could be months between sales. However, when they closed – they were big sales!
I suggest you keep yourself motivated by celebrating throughout the sales process – when you move a prospect to the next step, or hit a sales project milestone. Other options would be getting an appointment with someone you've been attempting to see for a long time, or hitting your goal of total appointments for the week. These are great accomplishments, and successful sales is about stringing together small (yet important) steps or victories along the way. Set smaller or short-range goals and celebrate your successes on a continual basis. Finally, when you close the sale – you still should celebrate (maybe even take it up a notch or two).
