Sales Tip of the Week from Mike Leeds – Pro Sales Coaching
Are you paying attention to your customer?
Technology has dramatically advanced in recent years, and continues to amaze us. It improves our responsiveness, increases our productivity and keeps us more organized.
However, let's not get carried away with this great technology when we are meeting face-to-face with other people. For a sales person, the most important person at the moment should be the person you are meeting with – not the incoming call, email or text. So, avoid reading your emails or texts on your phone/PDA when meeting with others. Unless it's an emergency, or you're waiting for a critical call (and notified the person you're meeting with in advance), I'd keep the phone out of view and in your pocket, purse, or laptop bag. I also suggest you turn the ringer off – it avoids distractions (especially if you have a "fun" ringtone).
Additionally, please remove the blue-tooth headset from your ear during meetings. It looks like you're preoccupied. People should feel that they have your undivided attention.
Have a great sales week!
